General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has called on Nigeria’s security chiefs to decisively tackle terrorism within a specified timeframe or step down from office.
Speaking in a video shared on the church’s official X account, Adeboye expressed concern over the country’s worsening security situation and urged the government to act swiftly.

The cleric recalled giving similar advice to former President Muhammadu Buhari during his administration, urging him to set a deadline for security agencies to defeat insurgents.
According to Adeboye, Buhari acted on the recommendation but failed to enforce consequences after the deadline passed.

He said, “He ran with that advice, but he didn’t follow it through. Because he gave the order as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The three months went, and the work was not done.”
Adeboye further revealed that he later questioned Buhari about why no action was taken after the deadline expired, though he declined to disclose details of their discussion.

The RCCG leader also urged the current administration to ensure that any directive to security agencies targets not only terrorists but also those financing and supporting them.

According to him, “When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists, they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be.”

His comments come amid growing public concern over insecurity following recent kidnappings, attacks on communities, and abductions involving schoolchildren and teachers in different parts of the country.
