Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has explained why he visited the Oba of Iwo in Osun State, who recently honoured him with a chieftaincy title (Atayese) in Iwoland, despite allegations and criticisms surrounding the monarch.
In a video circulating online, VDM said many people had accused the king of sponsoring bandits and jihadists, which prompted him to visit and form his own opinion about the situation.

“People said a lot of horrible things about the king, that he sponsors bandits and jihad. That’s why I went there because I don’t judge by what people says,” he said.

“Now that I’m a king, there are a lot of things I can’t do anymore. They asked me my chieftaincy title today, I’ve forgotten it already. I had to go read it again. I almost said tatashe,” he added.
VDM further stated that he prefers to verify claims personally rather than rely on what people say online before forming conclusions.
