Writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has criticised gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori over remarks she made in a recent video about the state of the nation.

This comes after the gospel singer called for prayers, insisting that the president and his vice are working hard to address the issue of insecurity.

Buchi argued that some religious leaders and gospel ministers have become too closely associated with political figures, making it difficult for them to speak objectively on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.

He expressed concern over ongoing insecurity in the country, particularly the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers, and questioned claims that government efforts have been adequate.

The media personality also maintained that while faith and prayer are important, national development requires effective governance, sound policies, and decisive action from leaders.

“Just because you added some mellow music in the background, doesn’t mean what you’re saying makes sense. It doesn’t mean you know what you are saying.

Some of you gospel ministers and even pastors are sellouts. You have sold your conscience to politicians. You have them donating to your programs and to your ministry and to the things that you are doing so it is very easy for you to come on social media and be saying, ‘oh no the president and vice president are working. You know they are working. Because you lack conscience. They are working and children have been k!dn@pped for the past two weeks. Do you know that in other counties some lost dog can be found in 24 hours than children in Nigeria?

I mean this very respectfully. I am a Christian and I believe in prayers but prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do for us.

Policy making is not the product of prayers. China is not developed by prayer, Dubai is not developed by prayer. The places you guys go for holiday was not developed by prayer.”
