A call for collective prayer
Alaseyori said her message was prompted by public frustration and criticism surrounding the handling of child abductions, stressing that prayer should unite citizens rather than deepen political divisions.

She argued that national healing requires collective spiritual action, from leaders to ordinary households, and warned against politicising grief at a sensitive moment.
“So many people are saying the prayer they are praying is not working, but believe me, prayers are working. Don’t let anybody use you for political whatever. From the president to the last person in Nigeria, we need to pray.”

“Those children are your children. They are my children. You can’t say the president and security personnel are not working. Sometimes they are close, and something just covers their eyes—that’s where prayer comes in.”

Her remarks echo earlier public debates following high-profile abductions, including the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls case and subsequent incidents that repeatedly sparked national soul-searching over security and civic responsibility.
