In a statement circulating online, Ayeni urged people to instead learn to love the person they marry.

“Don’t marry the person you love. Instead, love the person you marry. Marrying the person you love makes you a slave to them,” he said.
His comment has triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing that love alone is not enough to sustain a marriage, while others argued that marrying someone you genuinely love does not mean losing your identity.
