“Your role is to support, not to build your man” – Pastor Bolaji Idowu

Pastor Bolaji Idowu, lead pastor of Harvesters International Church (HICC), has ignited a major debate after delivering a sermon telling women, “ladies, you are not called to build your man; you are called to support your man.”

A video clip circulating on X shows Pastor Bolaji preaching to his congregation, advising women not to act as saviours in men’s lives. During the sermon, members of the church were seen cheering excitedly as the message was delivered.

Known for his controversial messages, Pastor Bolaji has once again sparked discussion with this sermon, emphasising that women should see themselves as supporters rather than builders in their partner’s life.

In his words, he said:

“Some of you have positioned yourselves to be builders. My car is bad; I’ll fix it for you. I can’t pay house rent; I’ll do it for you.”

He further explained that when a woman assumes the role of a builder, she automatically takes on excessive responsibilities, becoming like Mother Teresa and a controller in the relationship.

The sermon has sparked heated debates online, with many discussing the pastor’s views on gender roles and relationship dynamics. While some support his message, others argue that relationships thrive on mutual support rather than strictly defined roles.
