Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has revealed that she no longer attends physical church services on Sundays, citing discomfort caused by constant media attention.

In a video shared via her Snapchat account on Sunday, the actress was seen preparing breakfast for her children and getting them ready for church before addressing why she now avoids in-person worship.

“Do not ask if I am going to church. I am not going to church. Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she said.

Akindele, who is known to worship at the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), suggested that the persistent attention from media and other congregants has made it difficult for her to worship privately without distractions.

Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms.

Some users supported her decision, with one writing, “She is right abeg. Even church no get privacy again for celebrities 😩” Another added, “But still, going online church is not the same thing o. Physical fellowship matters.”

While a section of the public agreed with her stance on privacy, others maintained that public figures should still be able to attend places of worship without being constantly photographed or filmed.
