The cleric made the appeal while speaking at the Shift Conference on Wednesday, where he challenged Christian families who prefer to have one or two children. He argued that children were important and referenced a biblical passage about children being a source of strength.

“Stop having two children. I will explain now. Children are weapons. The Bible says because of those children, the man will not be ashamed. He will be able to speak to their enemies at the gate.

“There’s an agenda to outnumber Christians just by childbirth. Christians are dozing. Christians are saying, ‘I just want one child, one dog. I’m a dog mom, cat mom.’ So Christians are dozing. They are acting cute. They want a cute family. The Muslims are populating the world. I’m telling the truth,” he said.

Olubakin further argued that population growth was important, claiming that Muslim families were recording higher birth rates and warning Christians against becoming comfortable with having only one or two children.

He also referenced baby-name statistics in the United Kingdom, claiming that Muhammad had topped the list of names registered for newborn boys for three consecutive years.

“This year makes it the third year back to back that the highest number of children born in the UK is Muhammad. Three years back to back,” he added.

His comments have drawn attention to his call for Christians to reconsider their family-size preferences, as he linked childbirth to the growth of religious populations.
