According to Orokpo, couples should not rush into divorce because of disagreements or physical altercations in their marriages.

He argued that the Bible does not prescribe divorce simply because a couple is experiencing difficulties.

“Forget this garbage on Facebook. I tell you, he slaps you or she slaps you, walk away. Walk away to where? There’s no divorce because there is crisis in marriage,” he said.

The preacher advised people preparing for marriage to make their decisions carefully rather than being driven by emotions.

He also urged couples already experiencing marital challenges to seek intervention from an authority capable of examining their situation and determining whether reconciliation is possible.

He said the separation should involve counselling and spiritual guidance aimed at transforming both partners and helping them understand their differences.

According to him, the authority handling the matter could reunite the couple if it determined that they were ready to live together again.

However, he maintained that if reconciliation proved impossible, the couple could be advised to go their separate ways without entering another marriage.
