In a viral message, the clergyman criticised the idea of men trying to prove a woman’s loyalty by intentionally struggling or giving her very little to survive on.

In his words, he said:

“I want a woman that will love me for who I am. Who are you? Imagine me looking for somebody to marry, I’m testing her with three cups of rice. Are we travelling back to yesterday?”

We give you 50 million, go and do business. Don’t test a woman with poverty. You’re saying she doesn’t love you, yet you gave her ₦10k two weeks ago. How can ₦10k sustain a person? It takes money to produce honey.”

The pastor stressed that love should not be measured by how much hardship a woman can endure, adding that financial responsibility is a key part of building a stable relationship.

Many social media users agreed with his message, noting that some men use so-called “loyalty tests” as an excuse for a lack of responsibility.

Others, however, argued that true love should not be dependent on money alone, sparking mixed reactions online.
