‎Afrobeats singer, Davido reflects on Ademola Adeleke’s journey to becoming Osun State Governor.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ademola Adeleke winner of the Osun State governorship election held over the weekend.

‎During a livestream, Davido disclosed that his uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, was slated to become Osun State governor.

‎However, he passed away under unclear circumstances.

Afterward, a replacement was chosen to contest the governorship election, and Ademola Adeleke emerged as the candidate.

‎Reflecting on the  governor’s victory he stated, “He has never lost an election From the first election he ever did, he never lost”.

‎Ademola Adeleke contested the 2018 Osun governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

‎He was declared the winner initially, but INEC ruled the election inconclusive. After a rerun on September 27, 2018, his opponent Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was pronounced winner.
‎On July 16, 2022, he contested and defeated the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, with 403,371 votes, winning 17 LGAs.
‎Oyetola challenged the result, but the Court of Appeal and later the Supreme Court affirmed Adeleke’s victory.

‎He was sworn in as the 6th democratically elected governor of Osun State on Sunday, 27 November 2022 by the State Chief Judge at Osogbo Township Stadium.

‎On 16 August 2026, he was re-elected governor under the Accord Party. INEC declared him winner after polling 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji who got 444,815 votes.
