Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her ex-husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, are back in the headlines following a resurfaced 2023 interview in which she claimed she discovered her marriage had ended through a video on YouTube, without any direct communication from her then-husband.
Speaking on The Teju Babyface Show, Damasus recounted the shocking moment she learned of her separation on social media.

“A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” she said, adding that she was flooded with calls from friends urging her to check the video platform for answers.

Her statement quickly reignited public interest in the highly private breakup and drew a direct response from Ademinokan, who broke his long silence on the matter.
In detailed Instagram story posts, the filmmaker refuted Stella’s version of events, claiming that he chose to remain silent out of respect but could no longer ignore what he called “lies.”

He attached a screenshot of an email allegedly sent by Stella on July 20, 2021, in which she requested an address to send divorce documents.
Ademinokan further revealed that the decision to walk away from the marriage was not impulsive but made in consideration of his mental health and, more importantly, the safety of his son.

In a disturbing revelation, he alleged that his son had suffered physical abuse during the marriage and even wore makeup to school to cover up visible injuries.
