Ray Emodi Leaves Nollywood To Pursue Music Career

Popular Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has revealed that he is stepping away from acting, citing personal, family, and health considerations as key factors in his decision.

In a series of posts shared on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Emodi reflected on some of the challenging moments he faced while filming in various parts of Nigeria.

“I’ve dedicated a lot of time and effort to Nollywood. There was one shoot in a town I won’t name where we could literally hear gunshots. The neighboring area was in chaos, and yet we continued filming,” he recounted.

Emodi explained that family influence played a major role in his choice to leave the industry. “This was not an easy decision. My family holds strong values, and I respect their wishes. I don’t want to do anything that might tarnish our name,” he added.

While stepping back from acting, Emodi acknowledged the positive experiences he has had in Nollywood, admitting that he recently turned down multiple film offers. He also revealed plans to focus on music, announcing that he has already released a new project.

“I’ve been through some intense situations, but I’ve also had some of the most rewarding moments of my life on set. Saying no to new film roles hasn’t been easy, but it was necessary. Music has always been my passion, and I want to share this journey with you. I love every Nollywood fan, and I’m not leaving you I’m just following my musical dreams,” he said.

Emodi urged fans to respect his decision and refrain from resentment over his departure from acting. This announcement comes nearly three years after he previously took a brief break from the industry due to anxiety.

Before this decision, Ray Emodi had established himself as a leading Nollywood actor, starring in numerous notable films alongside celebrated actors including Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Uju Okoli, Sonia Uche, Maurice Sam, Ruth Kadiri, and Destiny Etiko.
