Relationship counsellor and cleric, Kingsley Okonkwo, has listed six categories of men he believes women should deliberately avoid in real life, warning that ignoring red flags often leads to emotional stress and regret.

According to him, many women knowingly enter relationships that are fundamentally mismatched, hoping things will change with time, only to realise later that the warning signs were always there.

“Avoid Mr ‘I want to marry a virgin’ when you are not one,” he said. “And avoid the man who is 52 years old but wants to marry a 22-year-old. Bros, that should be your child’s mate.”

Recognising red flags early

The cleric further explained that financial irresponsibility and empty promises are among the most common traps women overlook, especially when emotions are involved.

He noted that ambition without discipline is not a virtue and warned against confusing potential with progress.

“Avoid Mr Perpetual — perpetually broke, perpetually begging, and perpetually proud. Avoid Mr Potential — all he has are plans but no action, big dreams but he cannot take small steps.”

He also cautioned women to be wary of men who thrive on attention and blame women for their own lack of boundaries, as well as those who constantly complain about the quality of women in society.
