In a recent sermon, Pastor Odukoya recounted how he had sought clarity from God regarding his appearance after he assumed leadership of the church following the passing of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.

“One of the things I asked the Lord before I came back was whether I should cut my hair or not. And He told me not to cut my hair,” he said.

According to him, he even asked his sister to pray about it for confirmation. “She came back and said I wasn’t supposed to cut my hair. I replied, ‘I know, because God already told me.’”

The cleric explained that the instruction became clearer when a woman from Zimbabwe travelled to Nigeria just to reveal a vision back in 2016 while she was in New York and that his image—dreadlocks and all—had become a significant symbol for her spiritual journey.

“She said, ‘People think I’m crazy when I tell them I’m coming to Nigeria for three to four weeks. But in 2016, I had a vision where I saw you with your hair, speaking to me and giving me instructions.’”

“What struck me the most was that I didn’t even have long hair when she had that vision in 2016. But God, who knows all, was preparing me to be the exact person she needed to see in 2025. If I had cut it, she might not have recognized me. God made me keep the hair to save a life,” Pastor Odukoya shared.
