Faithia Balogun loses mother

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Balogun Williams has reportedly lost her mother just hours before celebrating her 55th birthday.

The news, revealed by the actress on social media, came as a shock to fans and left many expressing sympathy.

Faithia, who turned 55 on Thursday, February 5, hosted a star-studded birthday party on Sunday, February 8.

Guests included top Nollywood personalities such as Malaika, Funke Akindele, Pasuma, Kazim Adeoti, Regina Chukwu, Fausat Balogun, and Shaffy Bello.

Hours after the party, Faithia took to her official social media pages to announce that her  had passed away on the eve of the celebration.

She revealed that the family had kept the news from her until after the event.

In her post, Faithia wrote, “Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday. Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me. The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”

She added that the family would remain private during this period, and burial details would be shared later.
