Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has responded to criticism who accused her of promoting BBL after the recent death of a woman, Elena Jessica, linked to a botched surgery in Lagos.

Reports had earlier surfaced that a lady identified as Elena Jessica allegedly lost her life after complications from a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure at Cynosure Clinic
The socialite and influencer reportedly developed severe complications following her second butt lift surgery.

“People are dragging me that I am promoting BBL despite the fact that a lady just lost her life to it. Yes, BBL is risky, but which surgery isn’t? People die from fibroid surgery, C-section, and even headaches,” she said.

Reacting in a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress explained that she had been receiving heavy backlash from people who believe celebrities encouraging cosmetic surgery are influencing others negatively.

However, she maintained that while the procedure carries risks, individuals who decide to undergo it must ensure they are properly informed and seek professional medical care.
“Just make sure you are well-informed about the surgery you want. Use a good hospital and a good doctor. Make sure you don’t allow infection to enter your wound and take your aftercare seriously.”

The actress, who underwent cosmetic surgery last year, has been a vocal advocate for it, encouraging women to care for themselves even after childbirth and stressing that motherhood should not come at the cost of one’s identity.
