Popular Nigerian businessman and socialite, Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E Money, has publicly advised against the spraying of naira notes during celebrations—days after his own arrest over the same issue.

On April 28, 2025, E Money was reportedly picked up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from his Lagos residence and transported to Abuja for questioning. The arrest was said to be linked to his alleged spraying of cash at a social event.

Following his release, E Money addressed the incident on his official Instagram page, cautioning Nigerians about the legal implications of spraying currency at parties.
In his post, the younger brother of music star KCee acknowledged that the act of spraying money—whether naira or foreign currencies—is prohibited by law and urged celebrants to act responsibly.

He encouraged Nigerians to show appreciation or celebrate loved ones by placing money in designated baskets or bowls instead of flinging it into the air, emphasizing that respecting the nation’s currency helps avoid fines and legal trouble.

“Attention! The EFCC reminds us: Spraying Naira (or any currency) at parties/events is against the law! Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!
If you must give money at a party, make sure you put it in a basket or in a bowl or box in front of the person at the party and don’t drop any currency on the floor. This is advised by the EFCC. Ignorance it’s not going to be an excuse. Let us be aware and abide to the rules since it’s the law of the land.”
