Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon shares the struggles she faced during her lengthy custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan.
In a heartfelt interview on Biola Bayo’s show, Talk to B, Simeon disclosed that the experience left her feeling “frustrated and depressed,” though she hid her pain from others due to her strong family upbringing.
Simeon recounted that her son was just 4 years old when Ademinokan moved him to the United States, and since then, her role as a mother had been limited.
She revealed that her last opportunity to truly be a mother to her son was when he was only 3 years old. Attempts to stay in touch, she said, were often met with silence.
According to Doris, Ademinokan would sometimes ignore her calls, and even when he answered, he would quickly become “busy,” making further contact challenging.

“I might have had my fault, he also had his fault. That’s why I said I didn’t feel anything when they got married, but the only thing is that he didn’t allow me to mother my child. That’s the only painful part.
“He took my son without my consent, he was just 4 years old when he came to the US. He was 3 when I mothered my child last. I was calling, but he wouldn’t pick up, and when he picked up, he would tell me he would call me back as he was busy, and for another 3 to 4 months, I wouldn’t get through.
“I was frustrated and depressed, but I can never show that because I knew the family I came from as my parents told us to be strong, no matter what you’re going through in life. I just went for a movie premiere and someone told me I am not here to see my son. That was how they took us to court”.
