Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, has bagged a major achievement at the just concluded 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The singer won the highly coveted Best African Act award at the ceremony which held at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday, November 14.

The ‘Essence’ hitmaker who is currently on his Made In Lagos (MIL) tour was nominated alongside other African music stars, Nigeria’s Tems, Diamond Platnumz, Amaarae and Focalistic.

However, the singer wasn’t present physically to accept the award.

Taking to their official Twitter page, MTV Africa wrote, “HUGE congratulations to BIG WIZ @wizkidayo for winning Best African Act! From Lagos to the world.”

Fans of the international superstar have taken to social media to congratulate him on the grand achievement. Some fans threw shades at his counterparts in the Nigerian music industry as they declared him the best musician in Nigeria.

Others said the award is the tip of the iceberg and they are gunning for multiple Grammy awards this year, as against last year’s Grammy Award for his feature on Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl.
