Questions over prosperity teachings

In his message, Damina criticised teachings that encourage Christians to give with the expectation of becoming rich. He warned that such beliefs could mislead worshippers and create false hope about financial success.

There’s no scripture in the Bible that says when you give to God, you’ll be a rich person. There’s no such scripture. Nobody prospers by giving. When you give, you lack,” he said.

According to him, giving reduces one’s resources in the short term, and recovery depends on personal effort rather than divine guarantees tied to donations.

“I never saw anybody who, because he tithed, became a billionaire… it’s because they had jobs and businesses,” he said.

Damina further explained that natural resources and opportunities already exist, but individuals must acquire knowledge and skills to turn them into wealth.

He added that going to school, engaging in trade, and applying effort are the real pathways to financial growth, not relying solely on religious contributions.
