A 22-year-old Nigerian lady, Grace Fadugba, has celebrated her graduation with a first-class honours degree in Law from the University of Ibadan (UI), seven years after her United States student visa was denied twice.

Sharing her story on X (formerly Twitter), Grace revealed that she had excelled in her Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examinations and secured scholarships to study in the United States.
However, despite her academic achievements, her visa applications were unsuccessful.

She disclosed that the setbacks left her battling depression at the time. Instead of giving up, she redirected her focus toward studying law in Nigeria, a decision she said turned out to be life-changing.

Grace noted that she made productive use of the disappointment, channeling her energy into academic excellence and personal growth throughout her university journey.

“About 7 years ago, I was depressed from my study visa being rejected twice after acing my SATs and TOEFL and getting scholarships to study in the USA. “UI became a detour for me and today, I can say I made excellent use of it even beyond the grades. “Still Day 1.”
