Yemi Alade opens up on depression over her age

Grammy-nominated singer, Yemi Alade has opened up about her battle with depression stemming from a three-year period of misrepresenting her age.

The singer shared details of her struggle with depression in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.

During the interview, she revealed that for three years, she claimed to be 22 years old, only to discover she was actually 25 after figuring it out.

However, this resulted in depression, that lasted for several days.

“I kept saying I was 22 for 3 years and when I realized I was 25, I was depressed for a few days “, She firmly stated.

It would be recalled that in November 2024, Yemi Alade accused Cool FM Nigeria and Clout Africa FM of blocklisting her music for almost a year.

This came after she declined an invitation to perform at their end-of-year event in December 2023.

She claimed that despite her apology, the stations refused to reinstate her music .

Additionally, Yemi Alade has been in the news for addressing false reports of being sexually harassed, which she denied, describing the rumors ‘stupidity at its peak’.
