“We told our gateman not to marry our accountant earning ₦250k, but he refused…” – Man shares unexpected love story

A Nigerian man has shared the unexpected love story of a gateman who married an accountant earning five times his salary despite being warned against the relationship.

In a story shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Mikeliberation, he revealed that the gateman earned ₦50,000, while the accountant earned ₦250,000.

According to him, they advised the gateman against marrying the woman, arguing that it was a wrong match because she earned more than him and might not respect him.

 

However, the gateman remained confident and insisted that the accountant would accept him.

 

After a few weeks, the man said they noticed the pair going out for lunch together. Not long after, the gateman proposed, and the accountant accepted.

The couple eventually got married in a small wedding ceremony.

 

A month later, their boss decided to celebrate them and organised a party for the couple at the office.

 

During the celebration, the boss took the microphone and praised their relationship before announcing a surprise promotion for the gateman, which came with a salary increase to ₦400,000.

 

“I haven’t seen this kind of love story before. To appreciate our gateman, he has been promoted to assistant manager,” the boss announced.

 

The man’s account has since highlighted the couple’s decision to pursue their relationship despite concerns over their difference in earnings.
