Phyna mourns late sister on her child’s sixth birthday

Reality TV star and actress Phyna has written a moving tribute to her late sister, Ruth Otabor, as Ruth’s child marked a sixth birthday.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the former Big Brother Naija winner described Ruth as more than a sibling, calling her a confidant, haven, protector, and “quiet strength in every storm.”

Ruth tragically lost her life following an accident involving a Dangote Group truck. At the time, Phyna accused the company of attempting a cover-up, though the Dangote Group later pledged support for Ruth’s medical care and compensation.

In her post, Phyna recalled how Ruth’s laughter brought comfort during difficult times and how her kindness and grace shaped her life.

“Ruth was more than a sister; she was a confidant, a safe place, a protector, and a quiet strength in every storm. Her laughter had a way of softening the hardest moments, and her kindness wasn’t something she performed; it was who she was,” she wrote.

She added that losing Ruth created an irreplaceable void, but her love left an imprint that will never fade.

Phyna also used the occasion to celebrate Ruth’s first child, who turned six, describing the child as carrying “a piece of your mother’s light.” She prayed for the child’s future, wishing joy, wisdom, and endless opportunities.

“Happy Birthday to this bright, growing star! You carry a piece of your mother’s light, and watching you become your own person is a blessing. Shine, little one, this world is better with you in it. I love you,” Phyna wrote.

Reflecting on her journey of fame and growth, Phyna thanked her fans for their unwavering support through her highs and lows. “You didn’t just support me; you became my family, and together we built something powerful,” she said.
