“Only poor men cry over women online” – Carter Efe reacts to Roby Ekpo’s viral emotional interview

Nigerian skit maker and singer Carter Efe has stirred reactions online after sharing his opinion on men who publicly cry over women.

His comment comes days after a viral interview where OAP Roby Ekpo broke down in tears while speaking about his marital fallout on a podcast with his ex-wife, Mayowa.

He claimed he woke up to discover that his estranged wife of 11 years had gotten married to another man on Instagram.

Reacting to the situation, Carter said:

“The only reason a man would go on an interview to cry about a woman is because he is poor. Any man who has a proper job or is busy with his own thing won’t even have time to attend that kind of interview or come online to cry over a woman.”

According to him, men who are focused and financially stable are less likely to publicly express such emotions, especially on platforms where it can go viral.

Following the backlash and attention surrounding the interview, Roby Ekpo later shared a follow-up post expressing gratitude for the support he received through messages, calls, and emails, noting that he feels lighter after opening up.

He also apologised to those who were uncomfortable with his display of emotion, stating that pain can manifest in different ways.
