The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye, has rejected calls for the removal of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, from her position as an ordained minister in the church.

Pastor Adeboye made the statement during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp, where he addressed the growing controversy surrounding the First Lady’s religious and political roles.

Adeboye Speaks on Controversy
The respected cleric said the church would not yield to pressure from critics demanding that Senator Oluremi Tinubu be stripped of her ministerial position because of her connection to the presidency.

According to him, the RCCG remains guided by its spiritual principles and internal procedures, not by public opinion or political pressure.
Oluremi Tinubu Ordained Before Presidency

Pastor Adeboye explained that the First Lady became an ordained Assistant Pastor several years before her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declared interest in contesting for the presidency.

He stressed that her ordination was not politically motivated and had nothing to do with her current position as Nigeria’s First Lady.

The RCCG leader added that she fulfilled all the church’s requirements before being elevated within the ministry.

“She Followed Due Process” — Pastor Adeboye Says

Speaking on the matter, Adeboye reportedly stated that Oluremi Tinubu passed through the complete process required for ordination in the church.

He noted that she had not breached any of the church’s rules or doctrines since becoming a minister.

“Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an assistant pastor over 10 years ago, followed all the church processes of ordination, and hasn’t violated the chruch’s guidelines—so RCCG won’t remove her despite external pressure. The church isn’t APC.” Pastor Adeboye reportedly said, as quoted by Arise TV.

The cleric also dismissed suggestions that her political status should automatically disqualify her from serving on the altar.
