A Nigerian man identified as @Ndukaomeife has shared his personal journey, urging people not to allow the success of others to pressure them into believing they are falling behind in life.

According to him, he was still living with his parents at 33 despite graduating with a first-class degree and did not secure his dream job until he was 36.

He said he got married at 35 and began married life in a small apartment in Mushin before venturing into business at 38.

 

He recalled experiencing several business failures in his 40s, including failed attempts at running a business and an art gallery.

 

At 46, he opened an art gallery in Lagos, which eventually failed. He later returned to the yoghurt business at 47 and experienced another setback before starting again at 48.

At almost 50, he was compulsorily retired from his job, but instead of viewing the development as the end of his career, he decided to focus fully on his yoghurt business.

 

He later relocated to the United Kingdom at almost 52 and said that by age 54, the business had recorded more than ₦2 billion in sales.

 

Sharing the story, he encouraged people to focus on their own journeys rather than comparing their timelines with those of others.

“In this life, sha, don’t let anybody rush you.

 

At 33, with a first-class degree, I was still sleeping on my parents’ couch in Ebute Metta, trying to figure life out.

 

I didn’t get my dream job until I was 36. I got married at 35 and started married life in a room and parlour tiny rooms in Mushin.

 

I started a business at 38 and failed woefully.

 

I tried again in my 40s. Failed again.

 

At 46, I opened an art gallery at Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lagos. It failed too.

 

At 47, I returned to the yoghurt business. Failed again.

 

At 48, we started again.

 

Then, at almost 50, I was compulsorily retired from my job.

 

Instead of seeing it as the end, I went fully into the yoghurt business.

 

I relocated to the UK at almost 52.

 

By 54, we had recorded over ₦2 billion in sales.

 

So please, be inspired by other people’s success, but never allow their success to put you under pressure.

 

Some people bloom at 25.

 

Some at 35.

 

Some at 50.

 

Some even later.

 

Your timeline is different.

 

Keep learning.

 

Keep trying.

 

Keep failing forward.
