Nigerian lawmaker, Akin Alabi has said that joining politics is a sure way for someone to become bankrupt.

The House of Representatives member representing representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency stated this via his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Alabi spoke on the heels of Senatorial and Reps aspirants losing out at their party’s primaries despite claims of monetary inducement.

”If you want to go broke, join politics,” he tweeted.

In reaction to his post, a lady who said her grandfather is a living testimony shared his story.

She wrote; ”My grandfather, Alamash is a living testimony to this.

Man was rich and doing well until he joined politics. Lmao he spent everything on politics and still didn’t win anything credible.”

When sports journalist, Oma Akatugba countered him saying; ‘‘It you want to get rich quick, join politics in Nigeria.”

Alabi replied; ”Come and try it and get rich. 😀. You better come and ask why people have been fainting in the last few days.”
