The heartbreaking last WhatsApp chat of Maryam Agoro, a University of Lagos (UNILAG) graduate who passed away a day after her convocation, has gone viral online.

The chat, which surfaced on social media, showed Maryam expressing how much she wished she could attend the ceremony.

She wrote: “I really wanted to attend the convocation…”

UNILAG held the convocation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Maryam reportedly participated in the convocation shoot, but her poor health prevented her from fully enjoying the event.

Tragically, she passed away the following morning, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, leaving her friends and classmates devastated.

A coursemate, Amah ThankGod, shared the screenshots on TikTok via @officialamah_t.

In his post, he expressed his shock and sorrow over Maryam’s untimely death.

He wrote: “We had our convocation on the 20th and lost one of our coursemate the following morning. She died the next day, morning. I stumbled upon her last chat with one of us and even after doing convocation shoot.

I’m just speechless! If you know her, you know she isn’t the troublesome one. Her smile is charming and her heart is large! She’s a beautiful human. Shortly after congratulations, we get to only have you in our memories for now. Rest in peace Baby lawyer!”
