A 22-year-old Nigerian lady has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, fuel prices, electricity supply and the state of infrastructure, while calling on Nigerians to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of power in the 2027 general election.

The woman made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where she expressed frustration over what she described as worsening economic hardship in the country.
“If we don’t get APC out of this seat by 2027, I swear we are all fucked. We are genuinely fucked. APC has to leave.

“APC has to leave. I don’t know what Tinubu is doing on that seat. APC has to leave.”

She said her frustration increased after she recently went to buy petrol and paid ₦7,000 for four litres.
“I went to get fuel yesterday. Guys, 4 litres of fuel is 7,000 Naira. 4 litres of fuel is 7,000 Naira,” she said.

Recalling the price of petrol several years ago, she said she remembered visiting Lagos in 2020 and using money sent to her by her father to buy meat and fuel.
“I remember in 2020 when I came to Lagos to see my grandparents, my daddy sent me some money. So I had like 5K. And then I used out of the money, I took 5K for meat.

“And then I went to the petrol station with that 25-litre big gallon. I had to charter keke. I filled that 25-litre gallon with 5,000 Naira. With 5,000 Naira, that’s how much I filled it.”

Her recollection comes against the backdrop of the major increase in petrol prices following the removal of the fuel subsidy in 2023.

At the time, some filling stations in Lagos and Abuja were selling petrol for between about ₦185 and ₦220 per litre before prices began rising sharply after the subsidy announcement.

Questioning the situation in the country, the woman asked why Nigerians appeared to be accepting the hardship without greater resistance.

“What is happening in this country? Why are we quiet? Why are we quiet? What is your reason for supporting this man? For him to come back for the next Tinubu? What has this man actually done for the people?”

She also criticised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), questioning why students should need loans to access education in an oil-producing country.

“And if anybody says anything about NELFUND, God will punish you. God will punish you. Because if you’re talking about NELFUND, are we even supposed to be an oil-producing country? Are we even supposed to be paying like student loans? Is education not supposed to be free? An oil-producing nation.

The woman also made a claim about President Tinubu and the FBI, saying: “The man who is the current president is on the FBI’s list. On the freaking FBI’s list.”

She did not provide evidence for the claim in the video.

She then turned to the issue of leadership and asked Nigerians to consider what qualities they expected from their political leaders.

“People are suffering. Come to Lagos. Like, what do you people think should be the attributes of a leader? For this person to actually be a leader, what are the attributes that he or she is supposed to possess?”

She compared Nigeria’s situation with developments in The Gambia, claiming that an electricity price increase there had triggered protests.

“Look at Gambia, their electricity increased by 40%. They all came out to protest.”

She also complained about electricity supply in her area, saying residents had been without power for several days.

“We have no light now in this my area now for five days. You people abandon pending an existing project to go and build new ones. What about the other projects that you people left abandoned?”

The woman also criticised what she described as poor infrastructure and alleged mismanagement at the local government level.
“I feel like men are majority of the problems that we have in this country. Men are the problems that we have in this country, honestly. Because it is even a man that is on seat, that is in power.
“Your local government chairman, are they not men?”
She alleged that some local government or estate officials fail to repair roads despite having access to funds, leaving residents to use the same bad roads for years.
She said Nigerians should also examine why some people continue to defend political leaders despite facing economic difficulties.
“You people are talking about these governments that you are so defending with your blood, your sweat and your veins.
“Your children are flying abroad every day, leaving the country, going out of the country, buying things, shopping. People are here in Nigeria.”
She accused some supporters of backing the government because of tribal considerations or because they receive money.
“And if you see these hungry, evil and dejected people supporting this evil man, many of them, they are not even in Nigeria. And the ones that are in Nigeria are suffering.
“You cannot tell me that you are buying fuel, one five per litre, and you are coming to support somebody that came into seat where fuel was 220 Naira. 220 Naira per litre.”
Her comments about the ₦220 price refer to the period immediately before the major petrol price increases that followed the removal of the fuel subsidy in May 2023.
“I am just 22. I am just 22. I’m not supposed to be spending this kind of money. I am not supposed to be spending this kind of money,” she added.
She questioned what would happen to Nigerians who remained in the country if many young people continued to leave for opportunities abroad.
“If everybody decides to leave this country, one year from this country, what about the people that are still here? Nothing is working in this country. Nothing is working. No system is working.”
She mentioned several institutions and agencies, including the police, WAEC, JAMB and the Army, while also referring to an alleged ₦800 million fraud case involving an individual she described as an “Agbero”.
“Fraud is the same person that is contesting on that APC constitution. Do you people know the shit that we are in? Do you people know the shit that we are in?”
She further accused some Nigerians of supporting politicians because they belonged to the same ethnic group or because they received financial benefits.
“And many of you, your reason for supporting this man is because he is from your tribe. He’s from your tribe. Many of you, your reason for support is they share money.”
She said she was disappointed when young Nigerians defended the government.
“I’m very ashamed of Nigerian youth. So I understand that the elders, right? Okay, I understand that the elders, you know, but when I see a young person like me advocating for this government, I actually wish I can smite you. I wish I can smite you.”

The woman also questioned how many people would have to die before Nigerians demanded changes from their leaders.
“What is happening? How many people have to die? How many people have to die?”
She accused the government of having destroyed people’s lives and said the rising cost of living had affected her personally.
“Somebody that did nothing, somebody that did not even, for as in four years that you came to seat, to have destroyed lives. You have destroyed lives of people.”
She then spoke about the cost of running a generator, saying the price of generator oil had increased dramatically.
“I wish I could make the ends meet like every month and I have to change my generator oil.
“I remember buying this mobile generator oil for 800 Naira. Not until I started living alone. I didn’t even know the prices of things.”
She said she had previously relied on her mother for money and did not always know how much household items cost.
“I started buying that in 2020, 2021 when my mom used to send me. I used to buy that oil for 800, 1,000 Naira. Imagine my shock because when the guy was fixing my gen, I just gave him money. I didn’t even care how much he bought the oil or not.
“It didn’t dawn on me then. Imagine my shock when I went to buy oil yesterday and I saw that that oil that I bought for a thousand Naira three, four years ago, that oil now is 7,000 Naira.”
She also complained about her electricity bill.
“I pay electricity bill here every month, 15,000 Naira. It’s supposed to be 25k, but I don’t have an AC yet. 15,000 Naira is what I pay every month.
“But we’ve not had light now for five days.”
According to her, residents were still expected to pay their bills despite the poor electricity supply.
“We’ve not had lights now. What’s today? 13th or 14th? And we have to pay before every 7th. And we’ve not had lights now.”
She also complained about the condition of roads and sanitation in her area.
“The road is bad. Everywhere stinks. Nigeria is like the leaders are so evil. They will never treat their children this way.”
She accused political leaders of benefiting from the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians.
“Their children are enjoying life on the sweat and the sufferings of Nigerians.”
The woman also criticised what she described as a competition among politicians to accumulate wealth rather than to deliver infrastructure and other public services.
“Anybody that goes to sit on a public seat will be competing. They will be competing with each other for who is the biggest thief. Not who has accomplished more. Not who did social and social infrastructure.
“When you leave, what would you be remembered for?”
She questioned why some leaders who had experienced hardship before entering politics did not do more for the communities they came from.
“How evil can you be that you cannot even do the most? Many of them, the same ruthless, useless typical village that they came from, that they grew up in, that they saw suffering in, they went and became leaders and never did anything solid for that village.”
She repeatedly accused politicians of stealing public funds.
“All you do now is steal and steal and steal and steal and steal and steal. All you do is thieve. What have we benefited from you as our leader in this country?”
She then listed some of the prices of food items, saying the cost of living had become unaffordable for many Nigerians.
“A carton of Indomie is 20,000 Naira. A crate of egg is 8k. What have we as a people benefited from this Tinubu’s leadership?”
She also questioned supporters of the administration who live outside Nigeria.
“Many of you are suffering and hungry. You are fully people that are in diaspora to support Tinubu. Why can’t they come back and live in the same Nigeria that he’s building?”
She argued that the government should have achieved more during its first four years if it expected Nigerians to give it another term.
“You cannot do anything in four years. Is it in eight years that you will do something?”
She repeatedly questioned the value of government to ordinary Nigerians.
“Of what use are you to the Nigerian people? Of what use are you to the common man? What can the common man benefit from you?”
The woman also criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her earlier comments encouraging Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses such as frying akara, roasting corn and making kuli-kuli.
The First Lady made the comments in June 2026 while discussing empowerment initiatives, saying grants were being provided to support such small businesses. Her remarks generated debate and criticism on social media, while she later defended the broader empowerment programme.
Referring to the First Lady, the woman said it was disappointing that discussions in Nigeria were centred on such small businesses while other countries were focusing on technology and investment.
“See the wife of the president is coming out to talk about like in 2026, while other countries are talking about technological innovations, multi-million-dollar investments, you know, their youth, you are asking your youth to come and fry akara.”
She then questioned whether the First Lady would want her own children to depend on roadside trading.
“Would you allow your son? Would she allow any of her children stand by the road to fry akara? Would you allow your son or any of your children to fry akara?”
She continued: “You opened your mouth to advise the children of others while you and your husband sit in power, watch them suffer and do whatever evil you are doing. You’re asking them to go and fry akara.”
The woman ended her lengthy criticism by calling for Nigerians to reject the APC in the 2027 election and questioning what she described as the failure of the government to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
