American singer Ciara has officially become a citizen of Benin Republic after tracing her ancestral roots to the West African nation.

On July 26, 2025, she was awarded her citizenship certificate during a powerful ceremony held in honor of the United Nations Day for Women and Girls of African Descent.

Taking to Instagram on July 28, Ciara shared emotional clips from the ceremony, proudly declaring, “I am Beninoise.”

The milestone marks a personal and cultural homecoming for the singer, who continues to embrace and celebrate her African heritage
