“He called police over fake alert, then received the money 24 hours later” – Lady shares unusual car sale dispute

A Nigerian lady has sparked debate online after sharing the story of a young man who was allegedly arrested while trying to buy a car because the payment he made did not reflect immediately in the dealer’s account.

According to her, the buyer had visited a car dealership, selected a vehicle and completed payment through a bank transfer before attempting to take delivery of the car.

She claimed the dealer insisted no money had entered his account and accused the young man of sending a fake transfer alert in an attempt to scam him.

In her words, she said:

“The boy told the dealer to wait because it could be a network issue, but the dealer said it was a fake alert. He called the police, they arrested the boy and labelled him a fraudster.”

The lady further alleged that the transfer eventually reflected in the dealer’s account about 24 hours later, prompting the police to release the buyer.

However, after regaining his freedom, the young man reportedly informed the dealer that he was no longer interested in purchasing the vehicle and demanded a refund instead.

She claimed the dealer refused to return the money, insisting the buyer had already paid for the car and should simply take possession of it.

The incident has generated reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over who was right. While some argued the buyer deserved a full refund after the ordeal, others insisted the dealer had every right to complete the sale once the payment was confirmed.
