Veteran Nollywood actor Joseph Okechukwu has reacted to the recent protest by some Igbo traders at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex over the involvement of Chinese nationals in retail trading.

In a video shared online, Okechukwu alleged that the Federal Government brought Chinese nationals into Nigeria in large numbers to destroy businesses owned by Igbo people.
“The Federal Government brought in Chinese people into Nigeria in masses so that they can destroy Igbo businesses.

Yorubas are even giving their lands free to the Chinese just to destroy Igbo businesses. They don’t know us Igbos. Manufacturing companies will soon start springing up everywhere in the South East,” he said.

His comments came amid concerns over the involvement of Chinese nationals in retail trading at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex.

Some Igbo traders had protested the development, raising concerns about foreign nationals operating in the same retail space as local business owners.
