“Even if Adeboye, Oyedepo, Kumuyi, Okonkwo, these fathers in the faith, if any of them divorce, it’s still wrong. No matter what the reason, it’s wrong based on the Word of God.

If you are not intending or planning to stay in marriage for life, it is better not to enter. Because the only reason you can separate from a man or woman is if there’s sexual immorality. Outside of that, there are no grounds for divorce,” she stated.

Addressing a question about abusive marriages, Pastor Sarah acknowledged that battery and abuse are grievous sins but argued that they do not constitute biblical grounds for divorce.

She advised victims to leave abusive environments while their partners undergo counselling and work towards behavioural change. According to her, they should only consider returning if the abusive partner demonstrates genuine improvement.

“Once there is battery, the person is taken out. You take them out and leave until it is fixed. And if it takes ten years to fix that person, good. If it is not fixed, don’t go back.

You counsel him, and counsel him, and insist until you see behavioural change. The spirit of Jesus is not to throw people away, but to fix them,” she added.
