Egypt Sentences Teenage TikTok Star To One-year Imprisonment Over Obscene TikTok Video

A 16-year-old Tik Tok star identified as Nancy Ayman has bagged a 1-year jail term in Egypt over a dance video she posted on TikTok.

The sentence was upheld by a Child Juvenile Court in Egypt on Tuesday, May 31, after her videos were branded obscene and immoral by authorities.

The teenage girl popularly known on TikTok as Mocha Hijazi, was reportedly charged to court for gross indecency.

Her lawyer, Mina Nagy, had appealed the one-year sentence but the court refused and sustained it.

It was gathered that her photographer, identified as Moaz M., was also charged to court and sentenced to three years imprisonment with a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds ($5,300).

He was accused of s3xually exploiting the minor by making her film and post videos of herself in revealing clothes on social media with the aim of making money.

This move comes amid the ongoing crackdown on social media posts deemed immoral and s3xually provocative in the country.
