While the video was initially celebrated by fans, reactions soon shifted after some users on X examined Clare’s Instagram profile, noting that she appeared familiar with high-end fashion and travel. This led to claims that the video was staged and that Asherkine and Clare were already acquainted.
Responding to the backlash on Tuesday, March 10, Asherkine defended the video on his X account, insisting it was genuine. He explained that it chronicled a week-long interaction with 21-year-old Clare and shared his own journey from unpaid event filming at 17 to working professionally with artists such as Asake and Olamide, highlighting their similar experiences in hustling for success.

“I may understand that a bunch of people cannot fathom a young adult living and working in Ogun state, trying to make a way for themselves because she ‘looks too good’ for such a job. This person has a sister living in Lagos, it’s a 2 hr drive & She’s 21, I have cousins in Ogun state ffs.
