Chelsea renew £90m Alex Scott interest as Enzo Fernandez set for Man City switch

Chelsea have renewed interest for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as uncertainty grows over Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have already seen three offers for Scott rejected by Bournemouth but are ready to return with an improved proposal as Manchester City continue to show interest in Fernandez.

Chelsea prepare fresh Scott approach

According to reports from GOAL, Chelsea could offer between £80m and £90m for Scott as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes.

Bournemouth have maintained that the 22-year-old is not for sale and previously turned down bids worth up to £68m.

However, Chelsea believe a significantly improved offer could test the Cherries’ resolve and potentially lead to an agreement before the deadline.

Scott has become a key target for Chelsea as the club prepare for the possibility of losing Fernandez, who has emerged as a target for Manchester City.

Fernandez future puts Blues under pressure

City are reportedly preparing a formal bid for Fernandez after previously failing to complete a move for the Argentina international.

The midfielder was booed by sections of the Chelsea support during Monday’s victory over Fulham, adding to the pressure surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are keen to strengthen their midfield following Rodri’s departure to Barcelona and have identified Fernandez as one of their preferred targets.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has admitted that the situation needs to be resolved quickly.

Speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day after the Fulham game, Alonso said: “In football, I am not surprised by anything. We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future but we will see this week.”

A significant offer from City could therefore force Chelsea into a decision over Fernandez while simultaneously accelerating their pursuit of Scott.

The Blues would likely use part of any transfer fee received for Fernandez to fund a deal for Scott, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2022.
