The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH debunks reports that superstar singer, Burna Boy covered all medical bills for patients during a recent visit.
It would be recalled that the singer made headlines some days ago following his charitable acts in Port Harcourt, including paying medical bills, foodstuff giveaways, paid lunch worth N4m at a popular market, etc.
The hospital, on the other hand, confirmed that Burna Boy only repaid the debts of certain patients, despite allegations that he paid off all outstanding costs.
This explanation came after various blogs and news sites stated earlier this week that Burna Boy had paid for all hospital fees.
Elabha Meni, the institution’s spokesman, explained this in a statement made in Port Harcourt on Friday, praising the singer’s kind heart.
“We appreciate Burna Boy’s generosity in financially supporting chosen patients in our hospital to offset their expenditures during his visit on June 11.
“However, contrary to reports that all patients’ bills at UPTH were paid during the visit, only a few patients received cash gifts or donations.”
“The hospital did not get direct funding from the musician and his team on behalf of patients to support this worthy course of reducing healthcare costs,” Meni stated.
