Former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi has defended his wife’s right to spend her own money on expensive fashion items, saying he does not concern himself with the cost of the bags and shoes she wears.

Obi made the remark while speaking about his wife’s financial independence and personal spending.

According to him, his wife has her own business and earns her own money, meaning he sees no problem with her purchasing expensive items with her personal funds.

“My wife has her own business and money, so what is my own if she buys expensive items with her money? The bags and shoes my wife wears, I don’t even know how much they cost. As long as she doesn’t use public funds for it, it’s not a problem.

“In fact, she’s actually a bit less sophisticated. She used to be far more sophisticated before I became governor.”

Obi’s comments come amid public discussions surrounding his family’s lifestyle and spending, particularly questions about the expensive fashion items associated with his wife.
