“If you video me on duty, you will regret it” – Alleged police officer issues alarming threat in viral video

A man claiming to be an officer of the Nigeria Police Force has sparked reactions online after venting frustration over the treatment of police officers in Nigeria while also issuing threats to civilians.

In the viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man lamented about years of suffering within the force, accusing authorities of neglecting officers despite the risks attached to their duties.

In his words, he said:

“Any day wey I dey work duty as an officer, make somebody video me, that oga wey give una order go be the one to bury una. Twenty-six years here we dey suffer every day.”

The man further complained about poor welfare, alleging that officers are often left to cater for themselves without proper support or accountability whenever lives are lost in the line of duty.

He, however, acknowledged the current Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu for allegedly making efforts to improve benefits for families of fallen officers.

“Uniform una no fit buy, nothing una fit do for us. If not for this new IG wey start amending things and giving fallen police officers’ families their benefits. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop,” he added.

“The video has since triggered mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians condemning his threatening remarks and calling for his immediate arrest.”
