“They Threw Bottles At Me”- Tems Opens Up About Early Career Struggles

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, recently opened up about the struggles she encountered at the start of her music journey, revealing that she was once booed off stage during a school performance.

In a conversation with Big Boy TV, the “Crazy Tings” singer recounted that not only was she booed, but audience members even hurled plastic bottles at her.

“I remember preparing to perform at my school as an aspiring artist, thinking I would receive applause and support. But instead, I was booed, and people threw plastic bottles at me,” she shared.

Tems explained that moments like these, along with other early setbacks, did not deter her from pursuing her passion for music. She acknowledged that some of the pushback she experienced may have stemmed from her decision to stay true to her unique sound rather than follow popular trends or perform covers like many of her peers.
