Media personality, Ifedayo Agoro has sparked conversation online after sharing her honest thoughts about kneeling to feed a husband at weddings.

The Diary of a Naija Girl founder, who tied the knot with content creator Frank Itom in April 2025, said although she happily fed her husband during the ceremony, kneeling was something she simply could not do.

In a recent interview going round on X (formerly Twitter), Agoro stated that she doesn’t like the tradition where brides are expected to kneel while feeding their husbands.

She revealed that although she fed her husband cake at her wedding, she chose not to kneel.

In her words, she said:

“I don’t like it when you go for a wedding and they tell the bride to feed her husband kneeling down. I fed my husband cake, but I didn’t kneel. I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I can’t kneel.”

Her statement has since stirred reactions, especially among Nigerians who see kneeling as a cultural symbol of respect in marriage.

While some believe traditions should be upheld, others argue that couples should be free to define what respect looks like in their own homes.

Many social media users could relate, with one commenting: “Same! I can’t kneel either. Respect is about how you treat your partner.”
