Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly urged Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, Rita Daniels, amid her ongoing marital crisis with her billionaire husband and politician, Senator Ned Nwoko.

In an emotional video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress addressed several misconceptions surrounding her marriage, including claims that she married out of greed or was pressured by her mother.
“My Mom Is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”

Regina began by defending her mother, whom she described as her greatest source of strength and support.

She expressed disappointment over the constant insults directed at Rita Daniels by the public.
“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years. My mom held it down. She tried. You all insulted her, but she tried,” she said.

The actress emphasized that her decision to marry Ned Nwoko was entirely her own and that her family had initially advised her against it.

Addressing rumors that her marriage to the senator was financially motivated, Regina made it clear that her family was not struggling when she chose to marry him.

“You all stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, no. We were not broke. What money can a man give a mother to get her child who practically provides everything in the house?” she questioned.

Regina stated that her mother had worked hard to raise her and her siblings, adding that she felt responsible for making her mother happy because of all she had sacrificed for them.

“I Almost Took My Own Life”

In a surprising revelation, the actress disclosed that the pressure surrounding her decision to marry Ned Nwoko once pushed her to the brink of suicide.

“I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned. Everyone was looking for me. My brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me. My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life,’” she recounted.

Despite the opposition from her loved ones, Regina said she went ahead with the marriage because she truly loved Ned.
