Nigerian skit maker and comedian Shank has ignited controversy on social media after posting a strongly-worded tweet about the state of the country.

Currently in the United States for Kai Cenat’s Streamers University programme, the comedian took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustrations. In the now-viral tweet, Shank wrote:

“Nigeria is too too toxic man. Sickening.”

The tweet sparked immediate reactions online, with users divided over his choice of words and timing. Some agreed with his sentiments, while others accused him of being ungrateful and turning his back on Nigeria shortly after relocating.

One user, identified as Grandson, clapped back at him:

“You never even reach 6 months for that side, u don Dey enter us.”

Unfazed, Shank doubled down, replying:

“No jor. I’m serious.”

This is not the first time Shank has voiced frustrations about societal issues, but the tone of this latest remark especially while abroad has stirred mixed emotions among fans and critics alike.

Just days earlier, Shank was seen mingling with singer Wizkid during an event in Hollywood, as reported by Gistlover.

As the debate rages online, many are now questioning whether his comments were a candid observation or a misplaced rant.
