Model narrowly escapes Abuja scammer who lures models with fake jobs and steals their phones

A Nigerian model has shared her frightening experience with a notorious Abuja Scammer who allegedly lures unsuspecting models with fake job offers, only to steal their phones.

The story was made public in a series of posts on TikTok, where the model recounted how she almost fell victim to the popular con artist, sharing a photo of him as evidence.

According to her, the scammer is known for pretending to be a modeling agent, reaching out to models through stolen phones from previous victims.

After building trust, he invites them for fake modeling jobs, only to rob them and flee the scene.

She explained that it all began when a friend messaged her about a supposed modeling job.

She agreed to take part, and shortly after, a stranger contacted her on WhatsApp, asking for her Polaroid pictures and saying his “boss” would reach out.

After being connected with the said “boss,” she met him at a studio where he acted familiar with the receptionist.

He then took her to a makeup artist, claiming another model was on the way. The artist began her makeup while he stayed throughout the process.

Once the makeup was complete, he took her to a nearby location for a photoshoot. Moments later, he vanished.

When we were taking pictures, the makeup artist started looking for him. She asked where he was, and I said I didn’t know. Then she told me he hadn’t paid her,” the model narrated.

She tried calling him, but his number was unreachable. The makeup artist, realizing she had been scammed, called the police.

Two officers with guns arrived and briefly detained the model until the full story was explained.

She revealed that this scammer has been using the same tactic repeatedly — stealing phones from one victim, then contacting their friends to lure in new targets.

This is what the particular person has been doing and going scot-free,” she said.
