“Salawa Abeni is still my wife, her new husband is ‘just a lender’” — Kollington

Veteran Fuji musician, General Kollington Ayinla, has stirred conversation with his candid remarks about his relationship with former partner and fellow music legend, Queen Salawa Abeni.

During a recent appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, the 71-year-old singer opened up about their past, their bond, and his unshaken belief that Salawa still belongs to him, despite her current relationship with another man.

Reflecting on their time together, Kollington noted that their connection was deep and enduring, sealed by the three children they share. He insisted that Salawa Abeni was not merely a past lover but remains his wife “till the end of life.”

“That is how God wants it to be. She has three children with me; she is more than just a concubine. She is my wife for life,” he said.

Kollington acknowledged the challenges that fame brings to romantic relationships, especially for female celebrities. According to him, just as male entertainers attract female admirers, the reverse is also true.

“She is a celebrity. And just like women chase after male stars, male fans also throw themselves at female stars. But a woman’s understanding is limited,” he affirmed.

He suggested that these external pressures may have contributed to their separation, but remained firm in his stance that their bond is intact.

“No matter what I am doing, she always turns up. She’s still my wife. The person she is currently with is only loaning her,” he added.
