Why no Nigerian artist won the Grammy Awards – VeryDarkMan reveals

Popular activist VeryDarkMan has addressed the reasons behind the Grammy Awards’ snubbing of every nominated Nigerian artists.

Recall that Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr were the five Nigerian musicians who received Grammy Award nominations in 2024. None of them, though, won the prize.

In reaction, VeryDarkMan criticized the Grammys, claiming that they are attempting to prevent Afrobeat from obtaining complete control over them.

Buttressing his points, VeryDarkMan claimed that the Shakti’s album, “This Moment” that won the Best Global Music Album doesn’t have up to 1 million total views on YouTube.

He also claimed that he had no idea who Tyla was up until yesterday and her song, “Water” was hyped by Ayra Starr, who he thought sang the song.

VeryDarkMan claims that in an effort to make the awards ceremony more exciting, numerous nominations were extended to Nigerian performers.
