Growing up as a tomboy, his gender-atypical behavior during childhood was generally accepted at home, but as his secondary sex characteristics continued to develop at the age of sixteen, his home and school life became increasingly tense. He later underwent gender transition surgery and became male.

3. Balian Buschbaum

Balian Buschbaum is a former German pole vaulter. Born female, he competed in women’s pole vaulting before his gender transition, winning the title of German Youth Champion multiple times.

4. Lucas Silveira

Lucas Silveira is a Canadian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. Regarded as one of the best composers and performers of folk and rock music, Silveira, initially a female, undergraduate sexual transition surgery eighteen years ago to become a man.

Rocco Kayiatos, popularly known by his stage name Katastrophe, is an American rapper. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he came to limelight after winning the poetry slams in 1997. Rocco was born female before his transition into male through surgery.

6. Thomas Beatie

Thomas Trace Beatie is an American public speaker, and author. Assigned female at birth, Beatie came out as a man in early 1997. He had gender reassignment surgery twenty years ago and became known as the pregnant man after he became pregnant through artificial insemination in 2007.

7. Chaz Bono

Chaz Salvatore Bono is an American writer, musician, and actor. Widely recognized for his appearances as a child on the American television show, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, Bono started undergoing a physical and social transition from female to male in 2008. His legal transition was completed in 2010 when a California court granted his request for a gender and name change.
