“You are a boyfriend, not a father” – Apostle Johnson Suleman warns men ahead of Valentine’s Day

Popular cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman has stirred debate online after delivering a blunt message to men ahead of Valentine’s Day, warning them against taking their partner’s responsibilities.

The popular preacher, while addressing his congregation, questioned the mindset of men who feel pressured to do for women what their father could not do.

In his words, he said:

“How do you want to do for her what her father could not do? Stop carrying people’s issues on your head. You cannot be a father to who you did not birth.”

He explained that a man preparing for marriage should understand his role clearly, stressing that being a fiancé does not mean inheriting unresolved family problems or spiritual battles.

According to him, love should be guided by wisdom and capacity, not pressure or competition, especially in a tough economy where many people are already struggling.

“You are a fiancé, not a father. You can’t inherit the demons her father saw and avoided. If she comes to you for school fees and God has blessed you, pay. But if you’re struggling, pray,” he added.
